2009 is the the bicentenary of Charles Darwin’s birth and the 150th anniversary of his book “On the Origin of Species”

To mark this event, our reporters went to the British Geological Survey’s Headquarters in Keyworth, Nottinghamshire, where they have a collection of Darwin’s rock samples and notebooks from his voyages on the Beagle in the 1830′s.  To find out more about the Darwin bicentenary see the link to “Darwin celebrations” and to find out more about the work of the BGS see the BGS link.

We are in the core store.  On the table are samples of rock from the Darwin Collection

You can hear more about our visit to the BGS and find out about Darwin, Flying Dragons, Hercules on SuperSonicFM on Saturday 14th March.

Or if you can’t wait you can listen to the interviews now
